Stories - Reminisce, Memory Lane

Every time I visit this site I begin thinking of the years gone by. This was "Eddie and the Crusiers" time. Things were simple. You went to school, played football on Friday and Saturday was date night. People left their doors and windows unlocked. Do you remember that? Seems like so long ago. Well, I guess it was. In the summer came DRAG RACING. You would round up a bunch of your friends, load the cooler and head to the strip. You roamed around the pits looking at those amazing machines, just hoping to see one on those heated arguments between racers which were always settled on the track. Those fantastic all "Gasser" races. Beautiful Willis coupes and screaming little anglia's. Where have all those wonderful race cars gone? And then there was the "Match Race". Best three out of five. Everybody had their favorite. If your favorite  won you had bragging right til next week. Spectators would rise on the firing of the cars. The noise was deafening to the point your ears hurt and you gave up trying to talk. The cars are staged. The tree goes green and the cars leap down the track, faster than anything you've ever seen. The win light comes on and the crowd explodes like one would expect at a football game after a 60 yard touchdown pass. This was drag racing at "Biloxi Dragway".
