BILOXI DRAGWAY RESULTS MARCH 28, 1965

Record Broken

From DRAG NEWS
By Charles Meek
BILOXI, MISSISSIPPI March 28th The track record for the big AA Fueler was broken not once, but three times Sunday by that fabulous Swamp Rat VIII driven by Connie Swingle. First run-off the trailer was a 7.97 at 192.30 mph. The 426 Hemi-Dodge fueler made three blasts down the asphalt of Biloxi Dragway setting a new track record on each pass. When the day was over Connie was holding the track E.T. record at 7.79. The crowd really circle with a 13.66. Harry Kaletsch of Long Beach, Miss. came through with the win in C/G.
In the stocker ranks the '64 Hi-performance Fairlane of A. J. LeBlanc of Baton Rouge took Stock Elim. money with a 14.35 e.t.
The little Fairlane was helped to his win when his opponent mistook reverse for low in his D/S '57 Chevy and went backwards instead of forward.
No. 1 Elim. was the B/A of Ronnie Cumbest of Pasagoula, Miss. with a fine run of 12.78.
The strictly stock classes were overflowing as usual. Almost every class had 6 to 8 cars in them. Some of the other tracks around the country should try these popular classes. The rules are very strict allowing absolutely no changes to a showroom car.
