Ivo's 4 Engine Dragster At Biloxi
Biloxi, Miss. Oct. 9 - Ron Pellegrini, driving the Tommy Ivo
Special, the only four engine Dragster in existence, gave a
terrific performance Sunday at the Gulf Coast Drag Strip. Ron put
the beautiful machine through its paces for the cheering
spectators and ended the exhibition with a fast run of 173.08 mph
in 9.94 secs.
With credit given as credit is due: our local camp: Jimmy Burt,
driving the Vanderly-Burt Spl., sped through the traps at 173.08
mph to equal the fast time of the visiting dragster.
The Vanderly- Burt Spl., was defeated for top eliminator by the
skillful piloting of Leonard Dobard in his Hot Chevy dragster in
9.90 secs at 144 mph.
Middle eliminator was won by Boogie Scott with his driving one
of the fastest A altered coupes in the nation. Scott in his bln
Olds ran 142.86 mph in 10.32 secs. In little eliminator Dalton
Corlette in his 57 Chevy coupe defeated Andy Zanca in a fast 11.53
secs at 120 mph.
Street eliminator was won by Clinton Blake of Varnado, La., in
his 55 Corvette and stock eliminator won by Jack Cooley of Morgan
City with Both times being 85.31 mph.
